Family Law Mediation

Lawyer and Family Law Mediator in Kenosha, Wisconsin

Helping You Resolve Divorce Issues without the Costs of Litigation

If your marriage is over, but you want to find ways to cooperatively resolve differences regarding child custody and placement, or finances and the division of marital property, family law mediation can be an effective and relatively inexpensive tool to achieve the results you want while minimizing time, expense and emotional strain. In mediation, you are in control of resolving your disputes, rather than trusting the discretion of a judge to issue a ruling.

At the Law Office of Robert F. Sfasciotti, I bring over 30 years of family law experience to men and women throughout southeastern Wisconsin. Certified in divorce mediation, I will act as a third party neutral, helping you and your ex-spouse identify mutually beneficial ways to resolve your differences. My goal in family law mediation is to help you reach workable solutions that protect and promote the best interests of any minor children involved, while maintaining your rights as parents. While I control the mediation process, you control the results.

Contact my office or call me at 262-671-4345 (toll-free at 877-680-6844) to arrange a free initial consultation.

My Family Law Mediation Practice

In mediation, you work with a third party (the mediator), who represents neither party and has no vested interest in the outcome. The mediator does not enter rulings of law or rule on the evidence, does not render a decision in the case, and does not decide who wins or loses. Instead, the mediator works with both parties to help you identify ways that your issues can be resolved that will allow both to get what you need. The mediator is in charge of the process, the parties control the results.

The advantages of family mediation are many:

  • Issues can often be resolved more quickly through mediation, as you don't have to try to fit into the court's calendar or get on the docket
  • Mediation is generally less expensive than litigation, as there is no need to depose or prepare witnesses, gather evidence, file motions or respond to motions by the other party, or attend lengthy evidentiary hearings.
  • In mediation, you are looking for solutions that work for everyone, so there tends to be more cooperation and less confrontation, stress and anxiety.
  • In mediation, you actively participate in developing the resolution, rather than waiting for a judge to make a determination. As a result, you are far more likely to get results that meet your needs.
